Major trade update for Martin Necas confirmed by Hurricanes GM Eric Tulsky
Significant shifts could be on the horizon for the Carolina Hurricanes, especially regarding restricted free agent Martin Necas.
Although the Hurricanes retain Necas' rights, he is not contracted at this time. Notably, Necas appears to be heading to arbitration with the Hurricanes this summer.
Salary arbitration discussions often leave both parties disappointed, potentially causing the player to feel insulted. However, Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky confirmed today that arbitration with Necas is inevitable.
Tulsky on Necas: "As of right now he's an RFA with us, headed for arbitration where he'll get either a 1 or 2 year contract. And he'll play for us. If something happens between now and then, then that'll happen. But right now that's what I'd assume."
While it's possible that Tulsky might orchestrate a trade before arbitration is finalized, it doesn't seem likely at this point. Nevertheless, the forward has been at the center of trade rumors this summer, suggesting we might be in for a surprise. Fans across the league are certainly excited about the potential of adding Necas to their teams.
Still no inclination of a top-six acquisition from Kevyn Adams...
... but what I can provide is this cool Martin Necas jersey swap. I won't allow the inaction to let this time & effort go to waste.
Necas netted 24 goals and 53 points for the Hurricanes last season. Throughout his career, he has amassed 97 goals and 243 points in a total of 362 games.
