The Buffalo Sabres are open to all possibilities as they remain near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, and that includes trading star player Dylan Cozens.

The NHL Trade Deadline is March 7, 2025. Will the Buffalo Sabres trade center Dylan Cozens? If they do, there are plenty of potential landing spots. The 13-year playoff drought hangs over Buffalo and could reach 14 this spring.

As the league's most suffering franchise, the Sabres have been unable for some time now to entice class free agents into their icy market, a problem of which GM Kevyn Adams has expressed, but the team is anything but without options moving forward.

NHL insider David Pagnotta has Cozens listed as number seven on his trade bait board, as speculation really heats up.

Cozens is in the second year of a seven-year contract and the Sabres have been testing the waters on him, making him available. Buffalo GM Kevyn Adams is open to trading him, but it seems like if a move happens, it will come in the form of a multi-player blockbuster.

Vancouver, Carolina, Chicago, Detroit, Nashville

Trades remain very much on the table, and Cozens, not possessing a no-trade clause, might offer a spark in rebuilding the roster. Two years ago, Cozens appeared to be the cornerstone of an NHL franchise.

He was an emerging star, helping Buffalo come within a razor's edge of making the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons, scoring 31 goals and garnering 68 points before signing a seven-year, $7.1 million AAV extension.

Since then, though, he has fallen. His production has plummeted over the last two seasons, and his transition game stalled, an unfortunate fall from grace.

Still, Cozens is just 23, stands 6-foot-3, and plays the coveted role of a right-shot center. Teams salivate over players with his profile, especially considering what he's capable of when confident and in the right environment.

A change of scenery might unlock his potential, much like we've seen with other players, including his teammate Tage Thompson.

Among the possible suitors? The Vancouver Canucks. The tensions run high between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, hence the blockbuster trade is expected.

Cozens, native to Whitehorse, Yukon, would be a natural fit for Vancouver geographically. However, if they parted ways with Pettersson, they would demand much more than the struggling Cozens.

How desperate their internal dynamics have become will determine whether they settle for less. Let the speculation begin.
