The Vegas Golden Knights look every bit a Stanley Cup contender this season, and now they've been linked to a Seattle Kraken veteran.

Despite being heavily overlooked coming into the 2024/25 season, the Vegas Golden Knights are once again rolling, with the team sitting atop the Pacific Division as they position themselves as a Stanley Cup contender once more.

However, there are some questions over this roster, but most notably is their lack of depth down the middle beyond the duo of Jack Eichel and William Karlsson as their top two.

Now, The Fourth Period have linked them to a potential solution at the 3C position, noting that the Kraken may be open to moving Yanni Gourde at the deadline, a player that would be a solid fit in Vegas.

The Kraken would like to sign Gourde to an extension, but failing to do so is likely to result in Seattle trading him ahead of the deadline. He can be a UFA this summer and teams will certainly be poking around on his availability.

Gourde has been at the top of most trade target lists for NHL Insiders ahead of this seasons March 7th trade deadline, and while Vegas aren't the only team interested, it's safe to say that they're a strong contender to land him.

During two Stanley Cup runs with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Gourde was fantastic, posting 21 points in 48 games played, and with a +16 differential, the Golden Knights would no doubt be getting a huge upgrade in their middle-six if they could pull a trade off here.

At seasons end, Gourde will become an Unrestricted Free Agent, but that hasn't stopped Vegas before, as they acquired Noah Hanifin a year ago before inking him to a long-term deal, so while the situations may be a little different, expect Vegas to aggressively go after Gourde as a major upgrade.
