The Montreal Canadiens have been rolling after a slow start to the year, and now it appears that GM Kent Hughes is ready to be active in the trade market, with several veteran names on the market as the March 7th trade deadline nears.

With a young core leading the way, the Montreal Canadiens have been one of the NHL's hottest teams in the past few weeks, and it has their fanbase incredibly excited for the future (more so than usual).

Given that the success is led by the youth of Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson, it makes sense that the team would like to move out some veterans, with Insider David Pagnotta recently naming three players he believes the team could be moving.

In his recent Top 25 Trade List, Pagnotta and The Fourth Period revealed that Christian Dvorak, David Savard and Jake Evans are all on the trade block heading into the March 7th trade deadline.

With some key members of their core now in place, including goaltender Jakub Dobes, who has been almost untouchable over his first few career starts, it makes sense that the team would like to move pieces like Dvorak and Savard.

Evans on the other hand is a wild card, who is becoming a fan favourite in Montreal with his play as of late, as one insider recently predicted that an extension was on the way.

Ultimately though, it makes perfect sense if the Canadiens wanted to move on from some veterans, especially with the likes of Ivan Demidov on the way soon, and if they can continue building the culture that they've got, we could be looking at a genuine contender for years to come.
