Insider Reveals Winnipeg Jets Interested in Towering 6-foot-4 Defenseman
The insider David Pagnotta revealed in a recent paper that the Winnipeg Jets could be interested in the towering 6-foot-4 defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen ahead of the trade deadline.
For some teams, it's unclear if they'll be buyers or sellers at the upcoming trade deadline on March 7th.
However, for the Winnipeg Jets, it seems obvious that management will try to add some players to the team roster before the playoffs, trying to avoid another first round elimination in the Spring.
Last year, despite adding several notorious players such as Sean Monahan and Tyler Toffoli, the Jets were eliminated in the first round by the Colorado Avalanche in only five games.
This year, the team is performing very well in the regular season, but as we know, it doesn't mean they'll have success in the playoffs.
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Jets could be interested in acquiring a Philadelphia Flyers veteran defenseman before the deadline: Rasmus Ristolainen.
Pagnotta revealed in a recent article that Ristolainen could be a great fit in Winnipeg, but that the Flyers aren't in a hurry to make a deal happen, and other teams such as the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks could be interested.
Here's what he wrote:
"Philly isn't itching to trade Ristolainen, and with two more years left on his contract, they don't have to do anything this season. But GM Danny Briere is willing to listen, and Ristolainen has improved his game over the last two seasons.
Teams Reportedly Linked:
Edmonton, Dallas, Vancouver, Winnipeg"
Ristolainen, 30, has 11 points in 41 games with the Flyers this season.
While the defenseman has two more seasons on his five-year, $5,100,000 AAV contract, if the Flyers were to retain a part of his salary, the Jets could be enticed to make a move.
What remains to be seen is if the Jets will be willing to pay the right price to land him.
