With all the success that they're having in the regular season, the Winnipeg Jets are poised for a long playoff run in April.
Currently in the first spot of the Central Division, two points ahead of the Minnesota Wild with a 28-12-2 record, it seems like they will be the team to beat in the playoffs.
The level of competition will be very high and if they want to go through their division's powerhouses like the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars, making a few additions before the trade deadline could be a smart move.
David Pagnotta, NHL insider for The Fourth Period, believes that the Jets could make a deal with the New York Rangers to bolster their blue line.
He stated that Ryan Lindgren could be targeted by the Jets, considering his pending free agent status and the fact that he's not expected to sign another contract with the Rangers.
He finished by saying the chances of seeing Lindgren getting traded by the New York Rangers are high.
In his own words:
In 368 career-games in the NHL, Lindgren, 26, has shown great defensive skills, notably registering a +95 rating since joining the Rangers.
However, like the rest of his team, he has struggled this season.
For the first time since his rookie year, Lindgren has a negative goal differential of -4.
Rangers' general manager Chris Drury has a lot to get done before the deadline. In New York, there's still hope to bounce back, but time is running out for the Blueshirts.
As for the Jets, they are exploring many options, notably a veteran from the Philadelphia Flyers.
