The Boston Bruins and GM Don Sweeney have decided to place defenseman Alec Regula on waivers, which will allow all NHL teams 24 hours to claim him.

The Boston Bruins have placed defenseman Alec Regula on waivers as of December 10, 2024.
Alec Regula, 24, joined the Bruins as part of the trade that sent Taylor Hall to the Chicago Blackhawks a couple of seasons ago.
At 6'4", the right-shot defenseman has shown promise with a strong defensive presence and occasional offensive contributions during his time in the AHL.
Last season, he had 26 points in 55 games with the Providence Bruins, the Boston Bruins' AHL affiliate.
Regula has played in 22 NHL games across his career, all with the Blackhawks, and his size and defensive responsibility make him a strong piece, but unfortunately, he did not suit up once for the Bruins this season.
The reason he has not played a game this season is due to an injury, but a new report suggests he should return to action soon.
He will be reassigned to the AHL's Providence Bruins for further development should no other teams claim him. If he does not clear and gets assigned, he will provide Providence with a massive boost on their blue line.
Due to the fact that Regula is a big and young right-shot defenseman, the possibility of him being claimed by another NHL team should not be ruled out just yet. We will know in less than 24 hours.
