After solidifying their core over recent years, the Columbus Blue Jackets are now poised to trade their first-round pick and make a playoff push.

Last year, the Columbus Blue Jackets celebrated the acquisition of Adam Fantilli in the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft, bolstering their prospect pool alongside talents like Kent Johnson and David Jiricek. Following another challenging season, the team now holds the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, aiming to further strengthen their future roster with another standout player.
However, it seems the organization may be considering a different approach. Today, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell disclosed that the team is open to trade offers for their first-round draft pick.

It remains uncertain whether the team has a specific player in mind across the league that they aim to acquire, or if they are merely inviting other teams to initiate discussions. Nonetheless, the prospect of another blockbuster trade on draft day looms. With Patrik Laine likely on the way out any day now, there's speculation that these two assets could potentially be combined. With numerous players available, Columbus emerges as an intriguing team to watch.
