Another trade has been completed in the NHL today between the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens to give a pair of prospects a fresh start with new organizations

After today's first major trade sent Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks another trade has come in adding to an already chaotic day.
This afternoon the Edmonton Oilers have announced a trade that will send defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Jacob Perreault
Both players are older prospects who have struggled to stand out in the AHL and thus have been given a new opportunity to succeed with a new team.
For Perreault, this will be his third different organization at just 22 years old. After being drafted in the first round of the NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, he is now heading to the Edmonton Oilers, who desperately need talent up front in the minor leagues.
Despite being drafted in the first round Jacob Perreault has struggled mightily to find his way in professional hockey playing just one NHL game and never being a leading scorer for his teams in the AHL.
Now he will head to Edmonton and look to change the narrative of his career and find a path back to the NHL.
As for the Montreal Canadiens, they add yet another defenseman to their already stacked prospect pool in 25-year-old Hoefenmayer.
While Hofenmayer has no experience playing in the NHL yet, he has been one of the most consistent defensemen in the AHL seasons.
As the months pass it will be interesting to see if either of these players get a boost with their new organization and find success.
