The New York Rangers are looking to shake up their top-six, and the latest speculation sees them aggressively targeting a Canadian team's captain in Brady Tkachuk.

After a solid start to the 2024/25 season, things have quickly gone from bad to worse in New York, with the team seemingly intent on shaking things up, naming both Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba as potential trade candidates.
Now, talks are heating up around Jacob Trouba, with many believing that he's played his last game as a Ranger, with the top target of General Manager Chris Drury now officially revealed.
«Excising Trouba takes care of one issue but Drury has spent the week in trade talks with multiple clubs with The Post learning that OTT's Brady Tkachuk has become the Rangers' primary target"

According to Larry Brooks of The New York Post, Brady Tkachuk, captain of the Ottawa Senators is right at the top of the list in New York, with the team loving his gritty play style and believing it fits perfectly into what they are trying to accomplish.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, it doesn't appear to be a possibility anytime soon, with Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch immediately shutting down the rumour.
That doesn't mean things can't change in the future however, and if there is any team in the league that has the power to make a league-altering acquisition such as this one, it's the New York Rangers.
In years gone by, we've seen much crazier trades happen, with Brady's brother moved in a blockbuster deal that sealed a Stanley Cup for the Florida Panthers, and while it makes less sense for Ottawa to move Tkachuk than it did the Calgary Flames, if the Rangers come with a huge offer, it may ultimately be too much to turn down.
