Industry insiders suggest that the Canadiens' management is poised to make moves in the trade market. According to a report from Marqueur, a compelling trade proposal has recently emerged on social media, sparking considerable interest.
It's been said that Kent Hughes is aiming to clear cap space, and Dvorak, entering the final year of his contract in the 2024-2025 season, is often mentioned in these discussions. However, if Hughes intends to offload the American forward's contract, he must contend with acquiring Kevin Hayes' substantial deal, which carries two more years at an annual hit of $7.14 million.
Last season, while with the St. Louis Blues, Hayes managed just 29 points across 79 games before being traded to Pittsburgh, along with a 2025 second-round pick, in exchange for future considerations.
This trade could be beneficial for both teams. The Penguins achieve financial flexibility and gain a dependable center along with an up-and-coming defenseman. Meanwhile, the Canadiens bring in a veteran center capable of offensive contributions and mentoring young players, plus a prospect and a draft pick to aid their future development.
