A player implicated in the ongoing investigation of the 2018 World Junior Championship scandal has been stopped by border patrol while attempting to leave Canada.

According to a report by TSN's Rick Westhead, Carter Hart, former goaltender for the Carter Hart, was recently refused entry into the United States due to a criminal charge stemming from the 2018 World Juniors. The ongoing investigation has implicated Hart and four other players from Team Canada in a serious scandal that has attracted wide attention.
In the affidavit submitted to the court, Hart's statement reads:
""If I am required to attend the pretrial motions, whether in person or remotely, it would be impossible for me to maintain my daily training regimen. I have been previously denied entry to the United States due to my criminal charge."

Hart, who was trying to relocate from his home in Alberta to Tennessee, had hoped to train with a former professional hockey player to maintain his physical fitness. However, the legal issues have derailed these plans, leaving his future in hockey uncertain.
Hart, a second-round pick by the Flyers in 2016, had a solid season last year with a record of 12-9-3, posting a .906% save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average. Despite these stats, he was given a leave of absence by the Flyers after the allegations surfaced about his role in the 2018 incident.
Since then, Hart and the other implicated players have submitted affidavits in court, each attempting to secure work or training arrangements while the investigation proceeds. The affidavits highlight their diminished chances of returning to professional hockey, with all five players hoping to avoid non-essential court hearings.
The border issue presents a significant roadblock for Hart, who now finds himself battling not just legal accusations but also an uncertain professional future. The fallout from the World Juniors scandal continues to cast a shadow over his career, with the possibility of further legal consequences on the horizon.
Hart's move to the U.S. has been halted for now, leaving his prospects of resuming full-time training in Tennessee and, potentially, an NHL return in limbo. The court's handling of the players' requests to bypass hearings may offer some relief, but for now, his professional hockey future remains uncertain.
As the investigation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether Hart or the other players will see the ice again or if the consequences of their alleged actions will permanently end their hockey careers.
