Before Monday afternoon's game, Boston Bruins forward Trent Fredric got into a heated argument with Matthew Tkachuk, accusing him of not dropping the gloves during their previous game.
Despite the fact that neither team has even played five games this season, the Bruins and Panthers are supposed to play each other again for the second time. The NHL schedule just happens that way sometimes. However, given that tensions should be high following a fierce game between these two teams last Tuesday, in which the Panthers won 6-4, it might actually be advantageous for the fans in this instance. Given that Matthew Tkachuk backed out of a fight in their most recent game, Frederic seems to be capitalizing on the rivalry that has undoubtedly been intensifying between these two teams over the past few seasons. Fredric said this in response to the incident.
"If they don't want to fight, there's not much you can do about it. That's kind of the bummer part of it. It makes it more frustrating in that sense. We sure were (friends). I grew up with him since I was probably five. But yeah, it's probably been different the last couple of years. But yeah, we're family friends. It's business. I don't really care. Maybe when our careers are over, we can have a reconciliation. But right now, I can't stand him."
Maybe Fredric is just envious of the Panthers' Cup victory from the previous season, which included a victory over the Bruins in the second round. In addition, the team advanced to the Stanley Cup final the previous year after defeating Boston in the opening round. In any case, the match between the two clubs should be a good one.
