After the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 on Saturday, former Blackhawk Corey Perry was critical of his teammates' play.

Following a challenging final season with the Blackhawks, Corey Perry was eager to play against his old team with his new teammates from the Oilers. Nevertheless, the team's night was not particularly memorable due to goals from Connor Bedard, Seth Jones, and Philipp Kurashev, as well as two goals from Teuvo Teräväinen. After losing their opening two games of the season and giving up an incredible 11 goals, last year's finalists are now without a victory.
Following the game, Corey Perry criticized his teammates and the match they had just played, telling reporters,
"We can be a lot better... we're slow with the puck right now... we're not moving up the ice quick enough... We can make all the excuses in the world. Everybody's gotta look themselves in the mirror. It's frustrating."

The Oilers, who recently placed Raphael Lavoie on waivers, advanced to the finals the previous season. Even though the team persevered and forced a game seven after falling behind 3-0, they were ultimately unable to pull off what would have been one of the most incredible comebacks in sports history.
To illustrate how heartbreaking the loss was for him and his team, Oilers star Connor McDavid even declined to accept the Conn Smythe trophy. The team has a lot to prove, and they don't want to start by reclaiming the heartbreaking defeat from the previous season by dropping their first two games by a -9 goal differential.
Even Corey Perry has something to prove. He has lost four Stanley Cup finals in five years, including with the Stars, Canadiens, Lightning, and most recently, the Edmonton Oilers, since his first victory with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. He'll be hoping to turn things around and break his losing streak.
How will Perry and the Oilers fare? Or are the two of them in for yet another disappointing year?
