Dillon Dube, formerly of the Calgary Flames, has signed with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL following his departure from the NHL.

Dube is part of the group of players awaiting trial for their roles in the 2018 Canada Team scandal at the World Junior Championship. He faces one charge in connection with the incident, but the trial is anticipated to occur next year. Consequently, Dube and his fellow players are in a state of limbo, ineligible to play in the NHL, with their former teams having essentially waived their rights to them.
Four of the Canadian world junior players facing charges won't be tendered a qualifying offer and have effectively been cut loose by their NHL teams: Carter Hart (PHI), Dillon Dubé (CGY), Michael McLeod (NJ) and Cal Foote (NJ).

They'll become UFA's.
However, the KHL operates under different norms. It's not unusual for players with controversial reputations to depart North America for the KHL. Therefore, it's not particularly unexpected to see a player linked to this scandal join a team in that league.

Dinamo Minsk issued a comprehensive statement regarding Dube's legal situation following his signing, which can be viewed in the post below.
Will Dube be the sole member of the 2018 group to join the KHL? Will he even be allowed to travel to Belarus, or will legal constraints keep him in Canada? These questions will likely be resolved in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for updates.
