Ilya Samsonov set to sign with the Vegas Golden Knights
Ilya Samsonov, formerly of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Samsonov, aged 27, faced challenges during the 2023-24 season with the Maple Leafs. Despite this, the Golden Knights have opted to sign the free agent goalie to a one-year deal in Vegas. While there's been no official announcement, multiple sources have confirmed this development.
"BREAKING: Now former Leafs goalie Ilya Samsonov is signing with the Vegas Golden Knights on a 1-year "prove it" deal. "
Samsonov will need to demonstrate NHL-level performance to secure his place in the league. However, with the Golden Knights' formidable defensive lineup, his role could be more manageable than it was in Toronto.
More details to come.
