The NHL has been expanding rapidly in recent years, adding teams like the Vegas Golden Knights and the Seattle Kraken, and now it seems more additions could be on the horizon.

The latest buzz comes from NHL agent Allan Walsh, who hinted at the possibility of two new expansion teams in the near future.
On his podcast, Walsh confidently stated;
"The NHL is going to expand, said Walsh on his podcast. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when, two more teams. The NHL will go to 34 teams."

His comments have sparked widespread speculation about the NHL's plans and the impact this could have on the league.
Walsh didn't stop there. He also predicted a significant increase in the value of existing franchises, suggesting that business owners would view the NHL as an attractive investment opportunity.
"I'm telling you right now, you can write it down, in the next three years NHL franchise values will double, said Walsh."

Hinting at a potential financial boom for the league and its owners.
According to Walsh, the future expansion of the NHL won't just be good for fans but will also bring a massive financial windfall for the league. He predicted that the franchise fee for the new expansion teams could reach $1.5 billion, more than double the amount Seattle paid.
When it does those two expansion teams, I predict the franchise fee will be $1.5 billion, said Walsh. That's more than double what Seattle was.

Where might the NHL expand next?

With Walsh's comments fueling speculation, the conversation naturally turns to where these potential new teams could be located. Some of the most talked-about locations include familiar markets like Atlanta, Quebec City, and Arizona. These cities have been linked to expansion discussions in the past and could be considered again if they have the right support and infrastructure.
Beyond these options, other cities like Houston, Kansas City, and Portland have been suggested as possible homes for new NHL teams. Each of these cities has shown some interest in hosting an NHL franchise, and with the league's determination to grow the sport, they could be strong contenders.
As the NHL continues to explore expansion opportunities, fans and analysts alike will be keeping a close eye on developments. The league's commitment to growing the sport in new markets could lead to exciting changes in the near future.
