The NHL has seen plenty of talented young goalies in recent years, but there's one that didn't get the shot many believed he deserved, with Zachary Fucale playing just four games at the NHL level.
The 29-year old was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, and after years in the organization, he finally got his shot with the Washington Capitals in 2021/22.
In four games for the team, he posted a 1.75 GAA and a .924 save percentage, but after that, he simply didn't get another chance despite leading the Hershey Bears to the Calder Cup, after which he would go on to play in the KHL for the past two seasons.
Now, according to Kevin Weekes, he's preparing to make a comeback to the NHL backed by agent Dan Millstein, with plenty of interest reported in him around the league.
Fucale is looking to make his return for the 2025/26 campaign, and with many teams out there looking for solid depth goaltending, it's safe to say that he'll have the opportunity to land on one of many teams as he pushes for an NHL return.
In the KHL, Fucale has posted a .926 save percentage over two seasons, showing that he's still every bit as good as he was when he first made his debut, if not better, making it even more confusing as to why he was not given another shot.
Ultimately, Fucale is a fantastic talent with great talent and size (6-foot-2), so while he may not became a full-time No. 1 in the NHL, he clearly has the ability to be a solid player at the NHL level, so now we await further reports on the interested parties in him.
