Sean Higgins appeared in court today after facing charges connected to a fatal cycling accident on August 29th, which took the lives of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

Judge Michael Silviano ruled that Sean Higgins will remain in custody without bail until his next hearing on October 15th, following the tragic deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. The case has gained widespread attention due to the involvement of the Gaudreau brothers, both well-known figures in the hockey community.
Higgins is charged with two counts of death by auto, and prosecutors have emphasized that, if convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
The incident occurred two weeks ago when a drunk driver, later identified as Higgins, collided with the Gaudreau brothers while they were cycling. Reports indicate that Higgins admitted to consuming "five or six beers" before getting behind the wheel. This admission, paired with the severity of the crash, has led many to believe Higgins may face a lengthy prison sentence, potentially close to the maximum allowed under the law.

Sports world pays tribute to the Gaudreau brothers

The deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau have reverberated far beyond the hockey world. Tributes have poured in from athletes and teams across the NFL, MLB, and WWE, all of whom have expressed their condolences to the Gaudreau family. The brothers' passing has left a void in both their local community and the broader sports landscape, with many remembering them for their love of the game and the impact they had on those around them.
As the investigation continues, the public outcry over the circumstances of their deaths has grown.
Fans and loved ones alike are calling for justice, with many expecting Higgins to face severe penalties. The next steps in the legal process will be closely followed as Higgins returns to court in mid-October.
