Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby recently addressed the tragic loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, sharing his thoughts during the NHL North American Player Media in Las Vegas.

Crosby not only discussed his pending contract extension but took a moment to offer support to the Gaudreau family. The two brothers were tragically struck and killed by a drunk driver on August 29 while riding their bikes in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, on the eve of their sister's wedding.
Many NHL stars present at the media event expressed their condolences for Johnny 'Hockey', recognizing his impact both on and off the ice. Crosby went a step further, offering his personal support to the Gaudreau family.
«Knowing the hockey community, I hope everyone will rally around his family and be there to support them for their loss,» Crosby said. «We'll do anything that we can to support them.»

Crosby fondly recalled meeting Johnny Gaudreau at a former teammate's wedding in 2019. He noted how much he enjoyed getting to know Gaudreau not just as a player but as a person.
"I got to meet him at (Anaheim Ducks defenseman) Brian Dumoulin 's wedding (in 2019) they were pretty close and played college and stuff together,» Crosby said. «I spent some time with him at All-Star Games and things like that. Just a great guy and so fun to be around.

«And you hear so many stories from guys who played with him, former teammates, and just a what a great person and nifty player he was. He was so crafty out there.»

Crosby spoke highly of Johnny's reputation within the hockey world. Crosby's words resonate with the broader hockey community as they mourn Johnny Gaudreau, a player admired for his skill and kindness.
The tragic deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau have left a lasting impact on their family and the hockey world. Johnny, aged 31, and Matthew, aged 29, were both on the eve of important family milestones.
