Alexei Kolosov, a promising goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers, is making headlines as reports suggest he will not attend the Flyers' upcoming training camp.

This decision could delay his contract, just like what happened with Ivan Fedotov a few seasons ago, leading to speculation about his future.
Two teams are reportedly in the race to acquire the young Belarusian goaltender. According to Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco, both the Calgary Flames and the Nashville Predators have emerged as front-runners. Kolosov's absence from training camp opens the door for a potential trade, especially as his future with the Flyers seems increasingly uncertain.
This situation is not unfamiliar territory for the Flyers. Ivan Fedotov, another highly regarded prospect, faced a similar issue, and the team delayed the start of his contract. With Kolosov possibly following the same path, it begs the question: could this be a growing trend among their prospects?
Kolosov, a third-round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft, has shown significant promise while playing for Dynamo Minsk in the KHL. Over four seasons, he compiled a 49-56-19 record, boasting a respectable .909 save percentage and a 2.56 goals-against average. His solid performances included six shutouts, underscoring his potential as a future NHL goaltender.
However, his brief appearance in North America with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season left much to be desired. In two AHL games, Kolosov recorded a 1-1-0 record with a .885 save percentage, allowing six goals.
Philadelphia's future with Kolosov is now under speculation, but the team itself has been grappling with inconsistencies. Last season, the Flyers finished with a 38-33-11 record, which saw them hold a playoff spot for much of the year. Unfortunately, a 2-6-2 finish over their final 10 games knocked them out of postseason contention, ending their campaign in disappointment.
The addition of Kolosov could have helped solidify their goaltending depth, but now his future is uncertain. With the Calgary Flames and Nashville Predators eyeing him, the Flyers may soon have to decide whether to hold on or let him go.
