The Winnipeg Jets have been absolutely rolling in 2024/25, and while there's many reasons for their success, it can't be ignored how well Nikolaj Ehlers has played, posting 14 goals 40 points in 40 games thus far.
However, he's in danger of missing their Friday night clash against the Utah Hockey Club, as Head Coach Scott Arniel has revealed that he's feeling under the weather, naming him as a game-time decision.
As a result, they've now made an intriguing roster move, recalling forward Brad Lambert from the Manitoba Moose after playing in four games earlier this season at the NHL level.
The 21-year old former first-round pick remains one of the Jets best prospects, and with 3 goals and 16 points in 29 games this season with the Moose, it's becoming clear that he's developing exactly the way they would have hoped.
While no one expects Lambert to push for a full-time NHL role this season, he's a developing star of the future, and if this continues, Jets fans will be pushing for him to make the roster out of training camp next season.
Playing alongside Vladislav Nametznikov and Cole Perfetti, Ehlers has been fantastic all season long, and if Lambert gets the opportunity in the same role, it's safe to say that he'll have another huge chance to impress the Jets coaching staff and front office.
Ultimately though, this remains a game-time decision for Arniel and the front office, and after losing on the road to Utah HC earlier in the week, they'll be hoping that he can be back on the ice as they look to maintain their seven point lead in the Central Division.
