Kelly McCrimmon responds after critical remarks from Jonathan Marchessault

Vegas Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon responds to Jonathan Marchessault's departure with strong words today.

Yesterday, Marchessault disclosed that he believed the Golden Knights did not present him with a fair contract offer before the July 1st free agency deadline. He expressed feeling excluded from the team's future plans, despite winning the Conn Smythe Trophy just two years ago.

Marchessault to @TSN_Sports on leaving Vegas- "The tough part is there wasn't really a decent offer on the table. I don't think they tried their best to keep me, but that's part of the business and they probably have other plans. That's the business we're in so you move on."

McCrimmon responded today, offering no specifics to justify his decision but dismissing Marchessault's remarks, attributing them to Marchessault's personality.

McCrimmon says "this couldn't be further from the truth" and he "disagrees" with it. Chalked it up to Marchessault being a fiery guy.

Marchessault was arguably the most adored Golden Knight last season, rivaled only by Marc-Andre Fleury, who the team traded away for minimal return a year after winning the Vezina Trophy. Understandably, Knights fans are displeased with how the team has handled its star players.

No one represents the Golden Knights more or better than Conn Smythe-winner, Jonathan Marchessault.

And they are letting him walk out the door after he continuously expressed a willingness and desire to stay.

Unconscionable.

In addition, Marchessault holds the top spot in the franchise for nearly every skater statistic that the league monitors.
