The return of Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid makes the Vegas Golden Knights' goal of winning their first road game of the season more difficult.

The Golden Knights (8-3-1) will play the Edmonton Oilers (6-6-1) at Rogers Place on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. PT in an attempt to win their first road game of the season.
Due to an ankle injury that was expected to keep him out for two to three weeks, McDavid had been out of the lineup since Monday, October 28. McDavid, who has recovered in just nine days, is in his true superhuman form. He participated fully in Edmonton's practice and will skate tonight with Jeff Skinner and Zach Hyman.
"Feels pretty good," McDavid said after Monday's practice. "Not too much limiting me on the ice. I'm happy with how it feels."

Vegas will play its first game in Canada this season on Wednesday. This is the first of two games on the trip, which will conclude on Friday night in Seattle.
Bruce Cassidy and Barbashev addressed the media ahead of this massive road game against the Oilers.
"At the end of the day, we still have to play our game. We still have to account for how special a player he is." said Cassidy
"We all know he's probably the best player out there."

During the 2023-24 season, Vegas' record against the Edmonton Oilers was 1-1. The Golden Knights lost in a shootout after a close game in their first meeting on Nov. 28, 2023, at Rogers Place. On February 7, 2024, the Golden Knights defeated the Oilers 3-1 at T-Mobile Arena, ending the Oilers' 16-game winning streak with 30 saves from Adin Hill. The Golden Knights lost 5-1 in Edmonton in their season-ending game, with Keegan Kolesar scoring the only goal for Vegas.
Adin Hill will be in between the Pipes accompanied by backup Akira Schmid who was called up from the Henderson Silver Knights.
The Oilers have only won twice at home, and their most recent game at Rogers Place ended in a 3-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils. Edmonton's top scorer, Leon Draisaitl, has 16 points (9G, 7A), followed by Connor McDavid (10G, 7A), and defenseman Mattias Ekholm (2G, 7A), who leads the blue line.
PACIFIC DIVISION STANDINGS
Los Angeles Kings - 8-3-3, 19 points
Vegas Golden Knights - 8-3-1, 17 points
Vancouver Canucks - 6-2-3, 15 points
Calgary Flames - 7-5-1, 15 points
Edmonton Oilers - 6-6-1, 13 points
Seattle Kraken - 5-8-1, 11 points
Anaheim Ducks - 4-6-2, 10 points
San Jose Sharks - 4-8-2, 10 points

Today's victory would be the 321st in the history of the franchise. Give the Golden Knights their first road victory of the season and give them an all-time record of 13-12-3 against the Oilers and McDavid.
Bruce Cassidy expressed his opinion that the team had been playing very well at home. If they can only bring the same structure and tempo of their games at The Fortress to the road.
