The Canucks enjoyed a breakout 2023/24 season, but with some offensive talent lost in the off-season, they've turned to former Detroit Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong to fill the gap.
Sprong, who will join the Canucks as his sixth team in a 344-game NHL career, has previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, and Seattle Kraken.
Entering the 2024-25 season, Sprong is coming off two impressive seasons with Seattle and Detroit. At 27 years old, he achieved career-highs with 21 goals and an average of just over 11 minutes of ice time per game during the 2022-23 season. His performance last year earned him a one-year, $2 million contract with Detroit.
Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Sprong became the fourth Dutch player to compete in the NHL, furthering his legacy in hockey's top league.
