After landing Mikhail Sergachev from Tampa Bay, the Utah Hockey Club is said to be pursuing another elite defenseman, Calgary's Rasmus Andersson, in a significant trade.

In their quest to establish a standout team for their debut season as a rebranded NHL franchise, the Utah Hockey Club has been working hard this offseason. Their efforts included trading forward Connor Geekie, defenseman J.J. Moser, and two draft picks to secure star defenseman Mikhail Sergachev.
"🚨 BIG TRADE ALERT 🚨

Mikhail Sergachev is heading to Utah!"
But Utah's pursuit of a top defenseman might not be finished. Roger Hicks reports that the team is exploring a potential trade for Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames, possibly involving a prospect and draft picks.
"#Flames and #UtahHC have reportedly discussed a trade involving Rasmus Andersson for picks and a prospect. Trying to find out more on this. #NHL"
Though it's primarily speculation at this point, the Flames trading Rasmus Andersson for a better rebuilding opportunity is a real possibility. Tij Iginla, the recent 6th overall draft pick who expressed a preference for Calgary, might be the prospect involved in Utah's trade discussions.
"Tij Iginla reportedly unhappy with Utah Hockey Club #NHL"
No matter what the Calgary Flames offer, the Utah Hockey Club will face a challenging season ahead. They'll need to secure the defensive talent they're aiming for.
