The Vancouver Canucks are nearing the start of their training camp, and fans received a crucial update on Thatcher Demko.

On Tuesday, insider Rick Dhaliwal provided a major update on the team's goaltending situation, particularly regarding Thatcher Demko's status.
"Some good news. Thatcher Demko is back skating and working out on the ice this week. That's a very good sign." Dhaliwal reported, emphasizing the importance of Demko's return to the ice.
Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali shared the news on social media, confirming that Demko is actively participating in on-ice workouts this week. For Canucks fans, this is a significant relief, as it was previously uncertain whether Demko would be ready to join the team in time for training camp. Reports last month hinted that Demko might miss both training camp and preseason games, raising concerns about the Canucks' goaltending situation.
The update on Demko comes as the Canucks continue to navigate their goaltending options. According to Dhaliwal, the team is still in pursuit of free-agent goaltender Kevin Lankinen and has made a contract offer. However, negotiations have yet to result in a deal.
Meanwhile, Arturs Silovs, another key goaltender for the Canucks, is dealing with knee ligament inflammation. Dhaliwal mentioned that Silovs is currently traveling back to Canada from Latvia to be evaluated by Canucks' medical staff. Fortunately, the injury is not expected to be severe, which is a positive sign for head coach Rick Tocchet and the rest of the coaching staff.
The Canucks' preseason kicks off with back-to-back road games, first against the Seattle Kraken on September 24th, followed by a matchup with the Calgary Flames on September 25th. If Silovs' recovery goes as expected, there's a strong possibility that fans could see him in action during these early preseason contests.
As training camp approaches, the Canucks' goaltending situation remains a focal point. With Demko returning to the ice and Silovs' injury appearing to be manageable, the team is cautiously optimistic about the upcoming season.
