The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to several potential professional tryout (PTO) contracts as they prepare for training camp starting September 19th.

Patrik Allvin, the Canucks' General Manager, could be looking to add depth to the roster before the 2024-25 season kicks off.
With their current forward group nearly set, the Canucks may still explore PTO options to strengthen their lineup. According to Evan Bell of Sportskeeda, three players that Vancouver could consider bringing in on PTOs include veterans Blake Wheeler, Cal Clutterbuck, and a younger option, Kailer Yamamoto.
Blake Wheeler and Cal Clutterbuck, both in their late 30s, are nearing the end of their professional careers, but they bring valuable experience that could benefit the Canucks' playoff push. Wheeler, a long-time captain of the Winnipeg Jets, is a leader who has consistently contributed at a high level, while Clutterbuck's physical playstyle and defensive presence could solidify Vancouver's bottom-six forward group.
For a team aiming to make a deeper playoff run in 2024-25, adding Wheeler and Clutterbuck could provide the stability and leadership needed to reach the Stanley Cup Finals.
The third name mentioned, Kailer Yamamoto, presents a different option. At just 26 years old, Yamamoto could inject some speed into Vancouver's lineup. While his performance with the Seattle Kraken in 2024 left something to be desired, Yamamoto still possesses the potential to score 15-20 goals. His quickness and energy would fit well in a bottom-six role for the Canucks, providing some offensive depth if given the opportunity to rebound this season.
Despite these potential PTO options, the Canucks appear comfortable with their current roster heading into training camp. While there's always the possibility that Allvin could make a move before the season begins, it seems likely the Canucks will stick with their current group as they prepare for the 2024-25 campaign.
With preseason action just around the corner-starting with a matchup against the Seattle Kraken on September 24th-Canucks fans can look forward to an exciting season as their team gears up for another shot at playoff success.
