Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov was the Oilers fans biggest enemy. Surprisingly he ended up helping the Oilers secure the series win by blocking JT Miller's shot.
In the closing moments of the period, in yesterdays match it appeared that the Canucks were getting back their groove. With the score, at 3 2 Zadorov found himself in the zone when JT Miller of the Canucks made a shot that Zadorov successfully blocked, redirecting it past Stuart Skinner.
Zadorov has a standing connection, with the Oilers due to his time playing for the Calgary Flames the teams rivals. Throughout this series Zadorov made remarks, about Edmonton suggesting to the Oilers media that there isn't much to do in the city aside from watching hockey. He definitely didn't mince his words.
Zadorov had a performance during the playoffs often finding himself in disagreements, with Oilers forward Evander Kane. As he enters agency this summer the 29 year old will aim to secure a contract extension either with the Canucks or consider offers, from teams. Throughout thirteen games he managed to score four goals and provide four assists accumulating a total of eight points.
In the end the Oilers came out on top. They are set to face off against the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference final. Meanwhile Zadorov and his team will be reflecting on their season either hitting the golf course or escaping to an island until they can regroup in October for another shot.
