With the March 7 trade deadline looming, nobody can say for certain what will become of J.T. Miller.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shared his thoughts on some of Miller's potential destinations on the latest '32 Thoughts' podcast.
Friedman suggested that both the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes have made some trade inquiries for the Vancouver winger.
The Rangers are fifth in the Metropolitan and have reportedly offered up a prospect and first-round pick Filip Chytil. And with more than $5 million in estimated cap space, they'd be well-suited to do just that.
And the Hurricanes, who are second in the division, appear interested as well, though their offer was unspecified. The others that are interested reportedly are the Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils.
And Friedman questioned whether the Devils would be able to attain Miller before they made some significant roster moves beforehand, while it's not exactly clear how much interest is coming out of the Stars at the moment.
There were rumors the Canucks thought about scratching Miller right before Saturday's game against the Oilers as trade conversations were happening. But a trade ultimately did not end up happening.
General manager Patrik Allvin wouldn't get into all of the details but said that his objective is to try to improve the team as much as he can.
In all this noise, Miller repeated that he wants to play, and any talk of a fight between his and Elias Pettersson's camps has been debunked by the players themselves. Through it all, Allvin still believes in this core and that there is room to grow.
