Elliotte Friedman Reveals Elias Pettersson's Fate Amid Escalating Drama with J.T. Miller
Elliotte Friedman revealed Elias Pettersson's fate with the Vancouver Canucks amid the escalating drama with his teammate J.T. Miller.
One of the hottest topics in recent weeks has been the alleged feud between Vancouver Canucks teammates Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller.
Whenever two stars within the same team don't get along, the rumor mill starts to turn, leaving experts to believe one of them could end up being traded out of the Canucks' organization. A massive scenario sending Pettersson to the Montreal Canadiens was even brought up by a Sportsnet analyst.
It'll be interesting to see what will go down in Vancouver in the coming months if Pettersson and Miller's feud continues to affect the rest of the organization.
"It's not new to people who follow the Canucks that [Miller] and Pettersson have a unique relationship, to say the least.
Number one, the Canucks thought this was solved last year, the team had a great year the two players had a great year and they thought they had moved past this, obviously that wasn't the case.
Number two it's bled into the way they've played on the ice and that can't happen, you can't have it affect the way and the team is playing.
And number three and this is probably the most important one, it has started to take its toll on other people in the organization, the players, the coaching staff, and the hockey operations department.
No, I don't think there's a timeline or anything like that, they haven't started the clock, but eventually I think everybody realizes that something is going to have to give."
The insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that the Canucks would prefer to keep them both than trade one of them away due to these circumstances:
"In a perfect world, it's clear and just talking around the league, in a perfect world, the Canucks' number one choice by far is that Pettersson and Miller remain longterm players in the organization."
They're both in the 4 Nations for a reason, both excellent players and the Canucks have a better chance to win with them, and I think that is their goal."
While trading one of them away could bring a significant return to Vancouver, the preferred option is to keep both players. They are among the NHL elite and could play an important role in the Canucks' goal to finally bring the Stanley Cup to Vancouver.
