The Montreal Canadiens have been plenty of fun to watch in recent times with the return of Patrik Laine and his electric shot lighting up the Bell Centre and this young core.
Now, it appears Laine may be drawing big time free agents to Montreal, as his former teammate Nikolaj Ehlers of the Winnipeg Jets has now been named as a player to watch in free agency, with the veteran winger potentially eyeing a reunion with Laine.
In 25 games this season, Ehlers has 9 goals and 27 points, and with the Canadiens seeing the opportunity to add some experienced talent around this young core, there's a chance that Ehlers won't be the only veteran that they decide to target in free agency.

With the likes of Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky and Lane Hutson leading the way, the young talent is there for Montreal to compete for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot in the coming years, and adding Ehlers would only accelerate that timeline.
At 28-years of age, Ehlers still has plenty of time left to make his mark in the NHL too, and with 483 points in 630 career games with Winnipeg, they'd be getting one of the most consistent names in the league in what would be a major turning point for this rebuild.
