The Vancouver Canucks haven't been able to stay out of the news over the past few months, with the public feud involving Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller making them a very intriguing team to watch as the trade deadline nears.
We already know that teams like Detroit, New York and Boston have checked in on both players, and now, another team has potentially entered the fray, according to reporter Nick Kypreos.
According to Kypreos, the New Jersey Devils could be a landing spot for one or both players, with the idea of a Pettersson/Jack Hughes/Nico Hischier combination down the middle making them genuine Stanley Cup contenders.
At this point in time, they're likely to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference contenders come the Stanley Cup Playoffs anyway, but with a 26-year old star added into the mix, they'd be impossible to deny.
There's plenty of variables involved however, as the Devils would need to part with plenty of value to make it happen, but if they could keep the most valuable members of their core, this would be an intriguing move.
Ultimately, the Devils will have plenty of competition to land Pettersson, if the Canucks are even ready to move the 26-year old star, but if they could somehow pull it off, they'd go from an intriguing team to a Stanley Cup or bust team for the immediate future.
