The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly still in contention to acquire a significant player, potentially including Nikolaj Ehlers from the Winnipeg Jets, according to an insider.

Following the Vancouver Canucks' signing of forward Jake DeBrusk to a seven-year contract this off-season, their pursuit of Jake Guentzel, who joined the Tampa Bay Lightning, fell short.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, GM Patrik Allvin may not orchestrate another major move.
Yet, according to insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, mentioned on Sekeres and Price, the Canucks could still be contenders for two key players currently on the trade market: Martin Necas of the Carolina Hurricanes and Nikolaj Ehlers of the Winnipeg Jets.
"Why wouldn't the Canucks be willing to move a player or two off their roster to do it & rejig things? I wouldn't say they're totally out of the mix." Seravalli said
Acquiring both Martin Necas and Nikolaj Ehlers would come at a significant price for the Vancouver Canucks, potentially involving one of their top prospects like Jonathan Lekkerimaki or Tom Willander. Patrik Allvin is probably reluctant to make such a move at this juncture.
While circumstances may evolve before training camp, it appears likely that the Canucks have completed their roster additions for now, except for possibly offering one or two PTOs. There's also a consideration of adding a veteran backup goaltender as insurance in case Thatcher Demko gets injured.
