The Vancouver Canucks reportedly have their sights set on pending UFA Jake Guentzel as he heads to the open market on July 1st.

Carolina Hurricanes pending UFA Jake Guentzel will be a highly coveted free agent on July 1st who is due for a big pay raise. On March 8th during the NHL trade deadline week, Guentzel was being aggressively shopped by his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Vancouver Canucks were amongst teams pursuing the Nebraska born native, however the Hurricanes managed to snag him.
Expect the Vancouver Canucks to circle back on Jake Guentzel according to numerous reports.
According to what Ben Kuzma from Vancouver Province reported, the Canucks are aggressive in the Jake Guentzel file!
Guentzel has always been in the top-six winger pursuit. Now, there's a new wrinkle to convince UFA that Van is a fit.

Guentzel, had a highly impressive stint with the Carolina Hurricanes during his short time, however with the abundance of free agents needed to be signed in Raleigh such as Brett Pesce, Brady Skjei, Martin Necas and Seth Jarvis, the likelihood of Guentzel staying a Hurricane has diminished.
The Vancouver Canucks would have to swing a hefty price tag on Jake Guentzel who is expecting to make north of 10 million dollars on the open market. Given the tax rate in Canada, the Canucks may even have to offer slightly more than his rate.
