As per Pagnotta, Brad Treliving and the Leafs have continuously shown interest in Ferraro, with Toronto among several NHL teams considering his services.
While no concrete deals have materialized yet, Pagnotta suggests that the price for Ferraro is steep.
With the Leafs holding the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. The Sharks possessing two first-round picks (1,14), the potential deal may also involve one of Toronto's top prospects, such as Easton Cowan, Fraser Minten, or Topi Niemela, along with an additional asset.
At 25, Ferraro boasts a favorable, team-friendly contract, signed until 2026 at $3.25M per season. This season, he tallied 3 goals and 21 points in 78 games for the Sharks, leading the last-place team in defenseman points.
In addition to Ferraro, Toronto is rumored to have interest in another Shark, forward Luke Kunin.
Kunin, 26, is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st. Pagnotta suggests that a trade is unlikely if Kunin is re-signed long-term, noting ongoing discussions between the two parties.
