The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the departure of assistant coach Dean Chynoweth.

The team welcomed former New York Islanders head coach Lane Lambert as an associate coach, positioning him as the second in command to new bench boss Craig Berube.
Rumors had been circulating linking Lambert to the Leafs in the upcoming days, with Jeff Marek of Sportsnet reporting yesterday that Chynoweth was on his way out.
Chynoweth, who has served as an assistant with the Maple Leafs since 2021 comes from a hockey background; he is the son of Ed Chynoweth, president of the Canadian Hockey League. Had a successful career as an NHL defenseman for nine seasons.
On the other hand, Lambert brings experience both as a player and coach. Prior to joining Toronto he served as a coach for both the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders, before taking on the head coaching role with the Isles from 2022-2024, before being relieved of his duties mid season.
There is uncertainty surrounding the future of assistants Mike Van Ryn and Guy Boucher, who are rumored to depart. Meanwhile assistant Manny Malhotra has recently been appointed head coach of the AHLs Abbotsford Canucks.
