Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ben Danford left practice early after suffering an awkward hit during a drill, sparking concern over the severity of his injury.

During a Toronto Maple Leafs prospect practice, 2024 first-round pick Ben Danford left the ice after taking an awkward hit along the boards. According to Leafs reporter Mark Masters, Danford appeared shaken as he exited the ice. Although Masters included video footage of the aftermath, the actual hit wasn't visible.
"All we can see is the reaction afterwards", he noted. Despite the situation, several prospects on the ice quickly skated over to defend Danford, though they refrained from escalating the incident physically.
John Gruden, head coach of the Toronto Marlies and the coach overseeing the prospects, provided an update post-practice.
«He's being evaluated right now. Hopefully he'll be OK,» Maple Leafs prospects head coach John Gruden said of Danford via TSN's Mark Masters.
As of now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have not released an official statement about Danford's condition. However it appears he will miss the 2024 Prospect Showdown. Fans and analysts alike hope that it was a minor collision and that Danford will recover swiftly. The team may not provide further updates until tomorrow, leaving the hockey world to speculate.
At 6'1" and 190 pounds, Danford is a highly anticipated prospect for the Leafs. Last season, he tallied 33 points in 64 games with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League, along with an impressive 10 points in 21 playoff games.
