Former NHL player and host of the popular hockey podcast 'Spittin Chiclets', Paul Bissonnette, suggests that the Toronto Maple Leafs might be changing course on their plans to trade winger Mitch Marner.
Bissonnette indicated on a recent episode of the podcast that he has heard the Leafs are prepared to keep Marner in Toronto and are in talks to extend his contract, likely negotiating with his agent, Darren Ferris.
This development contradicts previous reports suggesting that Mitch Marner, who becomes an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, was likely to be traded by the Leafs. While this shift doesn't ensure Marner will remain with the team, it marks a significant departure from recent speculations about his future in the league.
Mitch Marner, a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has previously voiced his wish to remain with the team. However, it remained uncertain whether he would commit to a contract extension to stay.
The 27-year-old Marner had an impressive season, tallying 26 goals, 59 assists, and 85 points in 69 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
