As the season approaches, a significant update has been given regarding the future of Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren.

The future of Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren has generated a lot of conversation during the NHL preseason. Things appear to have changed now, despite the fact that under former head coach Sheldon Keefe, he was an essential member of the Maple Leafs defensive group.
Timothy Liljegren was noticeably absent from the lineup tonight, when the Maple Leafs opened their season against the Montreal Canadiens.
The future of Timothy Liljegren in Toronto was a topic of much discussion as a result of this. The long-term plan involving Timothy Liljegren has now been confirmed by a new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman talked about Timothy Liljegren's current situation in his weekly 32 Thoughts column. His sources claim that the Maple Leafs are trying to find a trade partner in order to acquire Timothy Liljegren.
Sounds like Toronto is working to find a landing spot for Timothy Liljegren. He's down the depth chart, not a situation anyone is happy with.

This was probably always the plan after Timothy Liljegren was left off the opening night lineup. Timothy Liljegren, who is only 25 years old, was previously selected in the first round of the 2017 Draft. Sadly, Timothy Liljegren's offensive flair has not returned to the NHL, as his career high in points is a mere 23.
Timothy Liljegren has been the subject of trade rumors for the entire summer. NHL insider Chris Johnston had heard whispers of a Liljegren trade beginning to be discussed during the NHL free agency period.
Signed as a free agent, Ekman-Larsson offers more of an experienced presence along with many of the same traits as Timothy Liljegren. An odd man out was always going to exist. It's evident now that Timothy Liljegren is that guy who needs to move soon.
