Vegas Golden Knights Mark Stone was recently interviewed and asked a series of questions, one of them asking who scares him the most in the league.

Mark Stone sent his reputation in the NHL to new heights by leading the Vegas Golden Knights to Stanley Cup glory in the spring of 2023.. On and off the ice, he was unmistakably the franchise's most pivotal figure. Much more than a captain, Stone has been the heart and soul of the team, epitomizing the spirit and grit of the team. Now, even continuing his career, he remains the most important player in the franchise.
While general managers and coaches are extremely important in the success of any hockey club, it ultimately falls on the players as to whether or not any particular team wins or loses. In Stone, Vegas has a rare combination of talent, leadership, passion, and perseverance. At 32, he is still performing at an elite level, but what he brings to his team goes way beyond the ice. He drives the culture, he sets the tone, and he leads by example through good times and bad.
Stone's role is much more than the numbers, though. He's the sparkplug, the emotional barometer, the steadiest of hands when his team needs a lifeline. If Jack Eichel is Vegas' engine up front and Alex Pietrangelo its backbone on the back end, then Stone is the transmission that keeps it all humming. His leadership knows when to mash the pedal, when to take his foot off, and when to make that critical adjustment in the heat of the moment. He's much more than a winger; he is the emotional leader of his side and a master at keeping them on point.
After he hoisted the Stanley Cup, Stone yelled, "We're the best bleeping hockey team in the world". a pronouncement that matched his defiance against the critics. Though last spring's Game 7 loss to the Dallas Stars in the first round was disappointing, it offered a silver lining: a much-needed rest for a team that had played more playoff hockey than nearly anyone else in recent years. The extended offseason may have been particularly critical to Stone, who had been spending his summers resting rather than recharging like other captains.
During his down time, Gary Lawless caught up with Stone and asked him a series of questions, which you can see below. One of them was which player scares him the most, to which Stone provided quite the unexpected answer.
"It used to be Steve MacIntyre when I was in the AHL. That guy scared me. I don't want to give anyone around the league the credit, so I'll go with him."

- Mark Stone
Suffice it to say that the impact of Mark Stone far exceeds anything to do with his skills or his statistics; he is just about the resiliency, leadership, and hunger to win of the Golden Knights. As long as the franchise keeps on evolving, Stone has remained that important figure who will lead the ship through success and adversity, all with the same unrelenting belief in his group.
