After Cedric Pare's dubious hit last night, it seems the NHL's department of player safety has decided to turn a blind eye and not suspend him.

On Saturday night, during the preseason game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens , Canadiens forward Patrik Laine sustained a horrific injury after colliding knee-on-knee with Cedric Pare of the Maple Leafs. Laine' horrific injury required assistance to exit the game on Saturday night. This was just one of several Canadiens injuries sustained against Toronto.
It makes sense that many Montreal Canadiens supporters, coaches, and celebrities are demanding that Laine receive more justice. One individual is former Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, who took to social media to argue Laine's case. However, it appears that the National Hockey League has made their intentions clear, and Montreal supporters are not pleased that the league appears to be planning to take no action in response to Laine's hit.
Laine's injury will unfortunately persist for months, if not the entire season, and there is nothing the Canadiens can do about it. Moreover, Cedric Pare is a former AHL player who is unlikely to make an appearance for the Leafs this season. He will therefore play the remainder of the season in the AHL and the Canadiens will not get another opportunity to face him.
Even though the Department of Player Safety has not yet provided a statement on the matter, we can be certain that he won't face any sanctions, much less a suspension, because the deadline for additional discipline announcement has already passed. Canadiens supporters are obviously upset about this.
On October 9, the Leafs and Canadiens will play their first game of the regular season in Montreal. Make sure to pay attention to that game because there will probably be a lot more drama and fireworks popping off.
