Patrik Allvin made the following comments on the 19-year-old prospect's signing:
Vilmer Alriksson excelled in the young star competition and showed remarkable growth in main camp. Whether it's this year or next, this versatile forward who thrives at puck progression will undoubtedly have the chance to elevate his game to a professional level.
Alriksson made headlines with a big hit on Logan Morrison in the Canucks' preseason opener against the Seattle Kraken. Moments later, he got into a brawl with Kraken forward John Hayden. Alriksson was facing a seasoned NHL player with 249 games and more than 40 career fights, despite the size differential. Even though Alriksson didn't look totally at ease during the altercation, he was commended for taking the risk.
The 19-year-old Alriksson just finished his rookie OHL campaign with the Guelph Storm, scoring 33 points (17-16-33) and accruing 35 penalty minutes across 67 games. In his four postseason games with the Storm, he set personal bests in goals, assists, and points and added one more point (1-0-1).
The native of Stockholm, Sweden played 43 games for Djurgardens Jr. before beginning his OHL career, scoring 21 points (12-9-21) and racking up 22 penalty minutes.
At the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Vancouver originally selected the 6'6", 234-pound forward 107th overall in the fourth round.
