The general manager of the Maple Leafs, Brad Treliving provided an update on the contract talks involving Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi in a recent interview.
Brad Treliving and other NHL general managers gathered in Buffalo for the leagues combine this week, giving reporters a chance to inquire about their summer plans.
While the focus has been on Mitch Marner's situation for the Leafs, Treliving also has tasks like addressing contracts for Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi both set to become free agents on July 1st.
When asked about potential contract offers for them, Treliving gave responses that left uncertainties about their future with the team.
He mentioned the importance of finding a deal that suits both the team and players due to roster issues ,salary cap constraints and striving to elevate his team;
"But it's got to work for them and it's got to work for us. We've got, certainly, some issues that we have to address on the roster. There's a pie and there's only so much to go around."
"We've got a few guys who are up. And part of this is getting better, too. It's not just being the same. You're trying to get better in the process, as well. So we'll see."
