Pittsburgh Penguins sign Alex Nedelkjovic to multi-year extension
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that they have re-signed goaltender Alex Nedelkjovic to a two-year contract.
The team made the announcement on X this afternoon, revealing that they have extended the 28-year-old through the 2025-26 season. It seems to be a great deal for the team as he comes with a cap hit of just 2.5 million dollars, which is very manageable and easy to trade if they need to.
Welcome back, Ned!
The Penguins have re-signed goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic to a two-year contract.
The contract runs through the 2025.26 season and carries an average annual value of $2.5 million. Nedelkjovic played in 38 games for the Penguins last season and put up an 18-7-7 record, a .902 save percentage, and a 2.97 goals-against-average. Those numbers were around league average. Over the course of his entire career so far, he's gotten into 141 games and has an overall record of 60-45-22. His career save percentage is .906 and his GAA is 2.96. He's never been on a team that is particularly good, so it seems that he's basically around league average. Penguins fans seem quite excited that he is back.
Very happy to have him back. He deserves the opportunity to be number one in goal. I'm not sure what to think about Jarry. To inconsistent, I wouldn't be mad if the organization tried to move on from him honestly.
Excellent signing. Ned earned the starting job and the team plays more confidently when he's in net.
This is just the first big offseason move for the Penguins. More will likely be coming as the team tries to retool on the fly. Keep an eye out for the team to make some more big signings this summer.
