The Pittsburgh Penguins have a ticking clock to secure Chase Yoder's future with the team.

With less than a month remaining before his rights expire, the organization must decide whether to sign the promising center.
Chase Yoder, drafted by the Penguins in the sixth round (170th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, remains unsigned.
The deadline for Pittsburgh to ink him to a contract is August 15, 2024. As of now, Yoder is set to become a free agent if no agreement is reached by then.
During his collegiate career at Providence College, where he captained the team in the 2023-24 season, Yoder demonstrated his potential on the ice. He played a total of 135 games in the NCAA, accumulating 27 goals and 42 points. Despite his achievements, he is not yet committed to any team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Yoder's path to the NHL is particularly notable given his family background. He is the only sibling to have been drafted by an NHL team, as his brothers Jordan and Peyton went undrafted and have since moved on from hockey.
In related news, Kasper Bjorkqvist, another prospect drafted by the Penguins, has also become a free agent. Bjorkqvist, selected in the second round (61st overall) in the 2016 Draft, was not signed by the July 10 deadline. He is expected to continue his professional career with Ilves in Finland's Liiga.
