Kyle Dubas, the former GM of the Maple Leafs, has candidly discussed his biggest regret from his time with the team, specifically targeting John Tavares in his latest interview.

During an interview with The Athletic's Craig Custance, Dubas discussed his tenure in Toronto, revealing that his greatest regret centered on the pursuit of John Tavares during the 2018 free agency and its repercussions on other contracts.
«The thing I learned was once we signed John to the (AAV) we did, it lifted the lid on the entire ceiling,» Dubas said.
With finances always a concern for the Leafs, fans questioned Dubas's decision to invest heavily in Tavares, given the internal contract issues involving other key players like Marner and Nylander.
