Juuse Saros signed a lengthy contract extension with Nashville this off-season, and now it seems to be paving the way for the departure of a former high draft pick.

Juuse Saros' future has been a prominent topic in Nashville during recent trade deadlines, but this summer, both parties settled the discussion by agreeing to an eight-year contract worth $7.5 million annually.
Juuse Saros, signed to an 8x$7.5M extension by NSH, is a high-end starting goalie who's led the league in games played for three consecutive seasons while finishing top 6 in Vezina voting for four straight years. Even in his down-year in 2023-24 he was just mid. #Preds
Now, it seems former first-round pick Yaroslav Askarov is seeking a way out, as indicated by his agent Dan Millstein in a recent interview.
Yaroslav Askarov's agent Dan Milstein recently spoke to a Russian news outlet about his future 👇

«Askarov has the potential & should become an elite goaltender in the NHL. Recently we have been working together with the club under different scenarios. Yaroslav has proven himself that he's an NHL player»
Considering Saros' consistent and productive performance, it's logical for the team to secure him for the long haul. However, now all indications suggest Askarov is seeking a departure.
It seems inevitable that Yaroslav Askarov will be traded by #Preds. How long might it take, and why Barry Trotz can show patience and eventually get his high asking price.
Since Askarov is still young, there's no immediate pressure for a deal, but if he aims to start in the NHL, it's likely to become a significant topic of discussion in Nashville.
