Sidney Crosby is seemingly an untouchable for Kyle Dubas, but if the unthinkable does happen, one insider has revealed where 87 would potentially end up.
The Pittsburgh Penguins organization is in a free fall right now, and after their latest loss to the Dallas Stars, speculation continues that there could be a fire sale. The team have already moved Lars Eller, and with several tradable pieces, we could see more action in the coming weeks.
Thus far, captain Sidney Crosby has been named one of GM Kyle Dubas' untouchables, but with a relatively cheap, moveable contract, things could change in a hurry.
We've all seen the links to Colorado given Crosby's close, personal relationship with fellow Nova Scotia native Nathan MacKinnon, but now, Insider Kevin Weekes has revealed another potential landing spot for Sid.
According to Weekes, Nashville could be a prime opportunity for Crosby to chase one last Stanley Cup, with the team in desperate need of a left handed centre that could completely turn their season around.
At this point in time, there's no need for the Penguins to move Sidney Crosby, but if they get an offer from the Predators that they couldn't turn down and 87 was open to the move, it would make sense from an organizational perspective to set the team up for the future.
For now though, the team will likely focus on moving the likes of Kris Letang, Marcus Pettersson, Michael Bunting and Drew O'Connor, but if the offers come rolling in, Dubas simply can't ignore them.
Crosby will go down as one of the greatest players in NHL history and a top-two Penguin of all-time, so while he's not yet available, if that does change, expect the Predators to be aggressive in adding him to this veteran group that they believe can make a run.
