The New York Rangers did exactly what they said they would do if the team continued to struggle. Indeed, General Manager Chris Drury traded the former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks a few weeks ago, and their 2nd overall pick in 2019 Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken only a few days before the NHL roster freeze kicked in.
Following these two massive trades, the team hasn't been able to build momentum, and embarrassingly lost 5-0 to the New Jersey Devils yesterday.
Vincent Trocheck and Ryan Lindgren were among the players to express dissatisfaction in their post-game comments:
The team seems poised to make other moves.
After scratching Chris Kreider from the lineup in their last game, he appears to be one of the top trade candidates.
However, other players could change teams before the trade deadline.
Arthur Staple of The Athletic wrote in a recent paper that the players most likely to get traded by the Rangers this season are Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Lindgren, Reilly Smith, and William Borgen.
None of these names are surprising to see in that list. They are all set to become free agents at the end of the season and don't seem to be in the Rangers' long-term plans.
While William Borgen was only recently acquired by the Rangers, flipping him to another organization could be a possible scenario.
Staple also revealed that several other members of the team could be traded, even though they're less likely to change teams than the four names mentioned earlier.
According to him, K'Andre Miller, Filip Chytil, and Zac Jones ould also be shopped by GM Drury.

If the Rangers can't turn things around soon, more massive changes are expected to be made within the organization.
